The World Trade Center’s architect, Minoru Yamasaki, was one of the Saudi royal family’s favourite architects, responsible for several major projects in their country. He practiced an architectural style that merged modernism with Islamic influences, a factor that may also have pushed Osama bin Laden to target the twin towers.
