A couple of Hunter S. Thompson links:

A staff member at ESPN on his relationship with Thompson who was a regular contributor there. Interestingly, he mentions that the good doctor actually had Johnny Depp deliver a eulogy on his behalf at Allen Ginsberg’s funeral.

Ralph Steadman, who illustrated many of Thompson’s stories, remembers him also. This quote is particularly befitting:

I would feel real trapped in this life if I didn’t know I could commit suicide at any time.
