Here’s one for the X-Files: A 28-year-old Japanese woman flew from Tokyo to Minneapolis, then attempted tofind money buried by a character from the movie Fargo. The most valuable paintings from Kabul’snational art gallerywere hidden in a sealed chamber when everything turned to chaos about 10 years ago. Other works of art had people and animals painted over in order to satisfy the taliban’s ministry for the protection of virtue and the prevention of Vice. Many were also stolen or destroyed.
