Helsingin Sanomat: More than half of art at Kabul National Gallery destroyed or stolen

The most valuable paintings from Kabul’s national art gallery were hidden in a sealed chamber when everything turned to chaos about 10 years ago. Other works of art had people and animals painted over in order to satisfy the taliban’s ministry for the protection of virtue and the prevention of Vice. Many were also stolen or destroyed.
