New Scientist: Plot to undermine global pollution controls revealed

British government records, kept secret until this week, have revealed that a secret group of developed nations known as the Brussels group conspired to limit the effectiveness of the UN’s first conference on the environment, held in Stockholm in 1972. The group included Britain, the US, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
